TAMARA OBSCURA || "DAYS OF OUR LIVES" — 05/15/2008 Screencaps & Joe Penny Caps

Today was a very good day for Tamara. We finally got the real reason Ava had her breakdown, and it wasn't due to Patch's leaving her at the altar. DON'T READ BEYOND THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW .... Apparently, Martino had Ava's mother killed. Ava did suffer after Steve left her, but not to the point she had her breakdown. It was some amazing acting on Tamara's behalf. I've read on some message boards that next year, Tamara should submit in the Best Supporting Actress Category for the Daytime Emmys. I feel it would be a gross injustice if she did. This whole Ava storyline has been driven solely by her. There's no 'supporting' qualities about it. This is a full Best Actress Category submission. Tamara has been driving this completely on her own. Certainly both Kristian Alfonso and Mary Beth Evans have been extremely good in the capacity they've been, but in no way is Tamara a supporting player in this. And kudos goes to Joe Penny for a fine job well done. I'm sad to see him go. I really thought he did an excellent job and made Martino properly menacing, but not comically so...unlike a certain other mobster on another show. I was also very impressed with Angelo Tiffe, again. I really like him and hope as long as Tamara remains on Days, we see more of Angelo. With Joe's scenes officially done, I'll be concentrating on capping Stephen Nichol's scenes. TAMARA OBSCURA || "DAYS OF OUR LIVES" — 05/14/2008 Screencaps & Joe Penny Caps

Well this has to be said, I'm going to miss Joe Penny when he's done as Tamara's 'daddy' on DOOL. Their scenes today/tomorrow were very good. Tension filled moments of father/daughter angst...sublime. Reminds me of Tamara's scenes on GH with Corbin Bersen as John Durant. Though I'd have to give the edge to Joe. There's something more menacing about Joe Penny as Martino that just brings out the total geek in me. I'll also give special mention to Angelo Tiffe as Cousin Angelo. Looks like there might be a bit of a power shift in the Vitali empire coming. Angelo truly seems to care for Ava in a way Martino doesn't. From this unobjective eye, it appears that Angelo is a might bit miffed at what Daddy Martino has been doing to Cousin Ava. I'm hoping Angelo Tiffe and Jeff Chase (Eddie) are keepers in terms of I love how they interact with Tamara. And Tamara looks like she's having the time of her life with both men. Okay, perhaps I should rephrase that one! One sidenote, I'm in a major drought with the lack of Stephen Nichols and Tamara scenes. I don't know, I love the chemistry with the two of them. TAMARA OBSCURA || "DAYS OF OUR LIVES" SCREENCAPS — 05/12/2008

Tamara just looked stunning today. For some reason, Tamara reminded me of two very different actresses from two different eras. The first is the late Natalie Wood. Displaying Natalie's more innocent side, Tamara in her scenes at the hospital with Angelo (Angelo Tiffe), showed how very vulnerable she can be at times. Both Tamara and Natalie have/had these big exressive eyes that show the emotions so fully. Definitely for Natalie in her West Side Story days. As for the other actress Tamara reminded me of.... Swedish actress Lena Olin from the JJ Abrams show "Alias" and other films like "Romeo is Bleeding", "The Ninth Gate", "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" and Lasse Hallstrom's "Chocolat". Lena has this sophistication that Tamara embodies in her exotic, more mysterious qualities. I think of the two though, Tamara's acting style and certainly what was on display today at Brady's Pub was more in the Lena mode. All in all, it was a very good Tamara day. TAMARA OBSCURA || "DAYS OF OUR LIVES" PREVIEW PHOTOS & NEW ARTICLE — 05/12/2008

Tamara wasn't on today. I thought I'd provide some preview photos though for Monday. I also was able to obtain the new edition of Soap Opera Digest where it had Tamara as the "Performer of the Week". Beautiful is all I can say about what they said about Tamara's work during the scenes where Ava confronted Steve. There were no preview photos of Joe Penny this time around, though according to Soap Opera Digest, sadly Joe's last episode will air 15 May, 2008 when Bo shoots and kills Martino. TAMARA OBSCURA || EXTRA — 05/08/2008

I didn't have anything else better to do this morning, so I thought I'd type up and add two new articles to the 2008 Press section. Nothing too earth-shattering, just some things I've been meaning to get added. The articles are more Stephen Nichols (Steve) related and how Steve's storyline relates to Ava's.   New Article: Tamara Braun Goes Crazy!   New Article: Ava Targets Steve — And Hope! I'm really impressed with how the press section is coming together. My hope is to get up some other things I have in my treasure trove in the coming weeks. It is further my hope to build the largest and perhaps unique press section on Tamara Braun on the web.

Another heavy day. I had more errands to run in lieu of Mother's Day for my mom, so I wasn't able to get the screencaps up for the day till now. A wonderful day for Tamara to shine. I adored her scenes with Joe Penny today. Very good acting all the way around as Ava confronted Martino about his keeping her drugged up. I was also very pleased with the scenes Tamara had with James Reynolds (Abe Carver). Although my preference is for Steve and Ava to get it on or at least together, I must say if the whole marriage thing with Lexie (Renee Jones) doesn't work out for our resident police chief, I'd be very open to an Ava and Abe pairing. Now for someone to come up with an appropriate acronym for that one! Also there's a new article in the 2008 Press section. It's a bit of a preview of scenes that have already aird and Tamara gives us some insight into Ava's motivations. So sorry for how late these are at getting to the page, but I had a lot of errands to run for my mom yesterday and didn't get home till late. I worked as hard as I could to get these capped and resized to get them up for you. Once again, Tamara was doing some fine work today. The aftermath of Ava's addiction and subsequent arrest is playing out nicely. I'm in awe of how Tamara is handling the various movements through Ava's psyche in understanding what she's done and taking the proper remorse and regret as Bo confronted her at the Salem PD. TAMARA OBSCURA || "DAYS OF OUR LIVES" — 05/05/2008 Screencaps & Joe Penny Caps

Tamara is doing a mighty fine job at portraying someone going through the rigors of long-term drug dependence withdrawals. I'm always amazed how she uses her knowledge of psychiatry to handle these very difficult scenes. I'm sure at the end of the day she's exhausted. Like some of the high-powered scenes she gave us as the ONLY Carly, particularly during the Panic Room storyline, Tamara is giving us her Emmy Reel scenes for next year. Certainly all involved in Ava's story including Stephen Nichols (Steve), Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), Kristian Alfonso (Hope), Peter Reckell (Bo) and new addition Joe Penny (Martino Vitali) should be recognized. Joe's barely been on a week and I'm thoroughly enjoying his take on a truly bad guy mobster. And it's because of this, I was asked if I'd do screencaps of Joe. TAMARA OBSCURA || "DAYS OF OUR LIVES" - 05/02/2008 SCREEN & MARTINO VITALI FIRST LOOK

Daddy Vitali is in da house. It seems he's not too happy to see his little girl in the hospital with 'Patch' in the room with her. I'm already loving Joe Penny in the role. He's got a certain bit of menace that doesn't resort to the kind of camp the other Joe on DAYS (Joe Mascolo) has become as Stefano DiMera. It also seems as of DAYS is turning a corner. The torture and murder of Earl (Ricky Dean Logan) was pretty much in the tone of a cinema verite style. They've brought Mr. Penny and by extension Tamara's new Daddy on in style. Thank you Days of our Lives for bringing on more family for Tamara. It seems you have a good vested interest in both her and her character enough to have brought on her Daddy. I'm also thinking Mr. Vitali might have a thing to two to show a certain other mobster on another soap on as they say, a competing network. Come on Joe, show 'em how it's done. Well, Ava's got herself in a pickle today and Steve seems to be caring a liiiiittle more than he perhaps should be. I'd say Sweetness had better keep an eye on him.
